Stellarton Police Department
A letter from the Chief of Police:
The Stellarton Police Service works closely with the community to solve and prevent crime. We value a proactive Community Police Model which builds and maintains confidence, trust and safety through partnerships. Our officers work with community members to promote safety and protect their neighbourhoods. The public is our concern and we strive to make important contributions to their well being. Law enforcement is only one service we provide. We are there for the community.
The Police Service is governed by a civilian Board of Police Commissioners who provides oversight regarding strategic policing, planning and policy.
Our Police Service is made up of nine sworn officers. Along with the sworn officers we also have civilian staffs that fulfill the functions of Dog Control Enforcement, Crossing Guards and Dispatch personnel from the Corps of Commissionaires that handle calls for 2 Police Departments and 17 Fire Departments.
Our Youth Corps is made up of youth between the ages of 12 to 18 who interact with our staff to gain exposure to the policing career and serve their community.
The Stellarton Police Service is committed to quality policing and we value team work and input from the public. The concerns of the public are our concerns. Working together makes Stellarton a safe and perfect community to live and raise a family.
Donald E Hussher, M.O.M., CD
Chief of Police.
