School Crossing Guards PDF Print E-mail

The school crossing guards are employees who every day escort our children safely across major intersections while they are on their way to and from school.

The position of the crossing guard is an important link in the safety of our children.  The crossing guard must be concerned for our children and have a desire to keep them safe.  Many of the children in our town either walk or ride a bicycle back and forth to school.

Often motorists are pre-occupied with their trip to work.  The school crossing guard must be able to analyze patterns, recoginze potential traffic hazards, be alert and remove themselves and the children from harms way.

To be a School Crossing Guard, you must apply at the Stellarton Police Service.  Guards get paid an hourly rate and are guaranteed 3 hours a day on days that school is in session.
