Town Building 



The Town Engineer is in charge of the Public Works Department. The department consists of a foreman and nine (9) permanent employees. Three of these employees work in the Rink during the ice season.

 The work covered by the department is as follows:

  • Supply, Treatment and Distribution of Drinking Water and Water for Fire Fighting
  • Maintenance of the Town's Sewer Systems
  • Summer and Winter Maintenance of the Town's Streets and Sidewalks
  • Maintenance of the Parks & Green Areas
  • Maintenance of the Town's Recreation Facilities working jointly with the Recreation Department
  • Operation and Maintenance of the Ice Rink
  • Maintenance of the Town's Buildings
  • Mechanical Repair and Maintenance of the 24 Town owned vehicles.

Citizen complaints requiring immediately action, such as flooded basements, sewer back-ups, road or sidewalk conditions, or water supply problems should be referred to the Town Engineer during normal working hours or the police dispatcher outside of normal hours.

Citizens' requests of a non-urgent nature should be referred to the Town Engineer.
Please note that the Town is responsible for delivering water to the property line but the homeowner is responsible for his sewer lateral right out to the main. The Town is responsible for the MAIN SEWERS ONLY.

Future Capital Works Planned

The Town will complete the first phase of development of the Business Park which will involve construction of a roundabout at exit 24, extending Lawrence Boulevard through to MacGregor Avenue, completion of the grading of the lots for development and bringing the roadway up to Town standards.

Replacement of aging waterlines will continue.

Capital sewer collection systems will be upgraded to reduce pollution of the East River during rain events.
