Stellarton is located in the center of the Cape Breton, Moncton and Halifax triangle. Stellarton’s larger businesses include Sobeys Inc Head Office, (Canada’s second largest grocery chain), Crombie Properties, Empire Company Limited, Scotsburn Dairies, Wearwell Garments Limited, and a diversity of smaller businesses.
Stellarton is the home of the Nova Scotia Community College, Pictou Campus, which has state of the art educational facilities for more than 750 students. The College provides general skills and professional development and more importantly customized training for local, and regional business.
The Town of Stellarton in partnership with the Pictou Regional Development Commission, entered into a strategic planning process to create a plan that would address effective economic planning and related community planning for the Town. View Strategic Plan.
An implementation committee, chaired by Councillor Taylor consists of members from the community, business and the Pictou Regional Development Commission. It meets regularly to implement the initiatives identified in the Plan. The primary focus of the group is to build partnerships and revitalize Stellarton’s downtown core. The formation of a Stellarton Business group as well as funding for a downtown street-scape design and facade program is currently in the works.
